Author's Note: I decided to write a free-write poem about the moon because about a week ago, when I was in the car, I saw that the moon was huge, orange, and low. It was fascinating! So, I decided to write a piece about it in the point of view of the moon.
I am brightest at night
My surface is tinted yellow
Like a star
That someone may color
In a drawing
If you think about it
It's fascinating
How beautiful
On some nights I can be
Especially around October
When I am full
I give a feeling
That I'm a pumpkin
In the sky
And I am low and light orange
Just like a pumpkin

The Hamster Who is Me
Author's Note: I have had a lot of extra work time in LA lately, so today I decided to write an essay. Since a lot of people have been writing creative personal metaphor pieces, I wanted to write one, too. But instead of writing a poem,I wrote an essay. Please give me feedback on how to make it better.
Think about what kind of animal you would be. How does that animal represent you? It is fun to think about what kind of animal you would be if you could. I am like a hamster.
Hamsters are small, hardy animals. At times, they are very active. Sometimes, I can get too excited. For instance, I have a hamster, and whenever my dad walks into the den, (the room Marshmallow is in,) Marshmallow climbs up to the top of his cage as fast as he can because he thinks my dad is going to give him a sunflower seed. His way of thinking is, "If I do something he will like, I will get something I like". My dad once joked about that if we filled our tub with sunflower seeds, and put Marshmallow in it, he wouldn't know what to do with himself. Other times, my hamster is lazy. I must admit that at times, I too am lazy.
Other than rarely being in between excited and lazy/tired, I am small (kind of). Hamsters can be very small. I say that I am like a hamster because size wise, I'm not a horse. Also, I am a very slow eater. I know as a fact, so are hamsters because like I said before, I own one. Marshmallow likes to shell his seed's outer coating before he can eat them. I don't really like things such as if a hot dog has grill marks on it or a pancake is half burned. My hamster doesn't seem to like things like that either. I wouldn't say I'm a picky eater, but Marshmallow sure is!
Another reason I am like a hamster other than being small is because of my creativity and loving character. Hamsters are easy to love; with their fluffy fur, their adorable chubby faces, and their eager attitude. I am like that because I love making people laugh- and I'm good at it, too! All hamsters are creative in their own ways. I like being creative in ways from drawing an awesome drawing or choosing a beautiful background for my laptop. Overall, I am fun to be around.
I am like a hamster. Fun to be with, small, creative, loving character, excited… these are all things that describe me. They also describe all the hamsters I know/have ever known. Think about one thing- if you were an animal, which one would you most fit with.

The Freezer-Wave
Author's Note: I have wanted something like a microwave that doesn't heat things up, but cools them down. I honestly think that if someone actually invented it, many people would use it. (Of course, I haven't actually invented it. I have no idea how to work or interest in working with electrical things. I just had to write this down because I thought it would be so cool for someone to invent it.)
"This is Nancy, reporting for the storm team 4 news and weather. Have you ever made hot chocolate, and then realized it was too hot and didn't want to wait 10 minuets for it too cool of, but didn't want it all watery? Maybe you have wanted to freeze yogurt so it's like a popsicle, but wanted it right then and there, not in 2 hours. Or maybe you wanted to cool something else off. Whichever the case, the freezer-wave is the right thing for you.
"It works just like a microwave. You press a few buttons, and you've got a frozen/cooled down treat. The inventor Lauren. is here to share a few words with us," reports Nancy, in her happy-reporter voice, shoving the microphone in Lauren's face as if shoving a treat down a dog's throat.
Lauren gently pushes the microphone away from her face and clears her throat, "Thanks, Nancy. I know Nancy already told you guys about what it does. But, why use a freezer-wave? Well, dry ice works, but it freezes things instantly. The point of the freezer-wave is to cool things down, just like a microwave warms things up, a freezer-wave would cool things down. Not put them at a negative degree. I think you've all gotten the basics about the freezer-wave down. So, I will tell you my future plans for the freezer-wave.
"Right now, they are the same size as an average microwave After a while, I will invent a way for there to be a very small freezer-wave that can fit into a pocket. You will need to secure it tightly into a zip-block bag though because it will enlarge into the normal size if it senses fresh air.
"You may be thinking that something like this would be expensive. Well, it's not. Most of the prices are greatly affordable.
"Alright, that's just about it." says Lauren as she finished up her clearly rehearsed speech.
Nancy faces the camera, "Thanks, Lauren for sharing that with us. And that's it for tonight, folks!"

The Garden
Author's Note: I decided to write a cinquain, because I haven't written one in a long time, and I love how they look like diamonds. I noticed that they don't look normal on blogger, but I think it's okay. I wrote 2, and they have the same title because I was writing about flowers, and both of them are in a garden. That's why I gave them that name. Try to picture and think about how each flower is like.
Flower
Golden, delicate
Blooming, sprouting, bathing
As yellow as the sun
Lily
Flower
Prickly, soft
Poking, growing, flowing
As red as ketchup
Rose

The Eager Leafpaw
Author’s Note: When I was reading the book Dawn, I was thinking that the next time I wrote an essay, I would write a character analysis. Once I got to prewriting, I had to really think about which character to do it on. I seemed to have an interest in Leafpaw (she seems so cute!), so I wrote this piece about her. I hope that this piece paints a vivid picture because I tried to use descriptive words and similes/metaphors.
Healing the sick, collecting herbs that can be as disgusting as mouse bile and berries as sticky as honey, traveling to the moonstone- it seems that the eager to learn medicine cat apprentice Leafpaw is always busy and learning new things. She also seems to worry about things an awful lot. In the book Dawn by Erin Hunter, Leafpaw is portrayed as a character who is constantly worried, busy, and is eager to learn new things.
Leafpaw tends to worry a lot. Especially since the Twolegs (humans) started destroying the forest with their huge, glittering monsters with unnatural shining pelts to build a new Thunderpath (road), everyone has been worrying. Everybody thinks that the Twolegs have no purpose for destroying all the trees, but they are helpless and can do nothing to stop them. It’s not only because the Clans have to leave their homes that Leafpaw is worried, but also due to her duties as a medicine cat apprentice. Since she has to tend to the sick/injured, (hence the name medicine cat,) she has more to worry about. There are more dangers that may affect her as a medicine cat such as cats getting sick and not having enough herbs/berries to take care of the them or maybe cats getting unknown diseases that she doesn't know how to treat. Even though she is only an apprentice, she still has a lot to offer as a medicine cat in-training. Leafpaw worries about other things, too. Sometimes, Leafpaw is worried for her father, Firestar, the clan leader because she wants to know what he will do because of the fact he has to try to get the clans to work together so they can all escape the dreaded Twolegs. At other times, she is worried for her sister who was lucky to have returned back home from her travels.
Lately, Leafpaw hasn’t only been worried, she has been very busy. She is a big help to Cinderpelt, her mentor. Especially since she has an injury that will stay for her entire life. When Cinderpelt was just an apprentice, she fell into Tigerstar’s trap that was for Bluestar. (Tigerstar was a horrible cat, who would do anything to satisfy his hunger for power.)Leafpaw helps Cinderpelt in many ways- whether it’s helping her collect herbs/berries to supply her stock or tending to the sick/hurt.
Even though she is busy most of the time, Leafpaw always seem to have time to be eager to learn new things. When she was at the cave of pointed stones, Leafpaw kept asking Stone-Teller questions about their warrior ancestors. That's because she is learning to be a medicine cat and medicine cats meet and share dreams with their warrior ancestors. So, Leafpaw was eager to find out more about how the Tribe does things, which by the way is very different than how the Clans do things. Yes, Leafpaw asks her questions without interrupting or butting in. She doesn't always ask questions to learn, though. Leafpaw seems to teach an important lesson to readers. Leafpaw knows that sometimes it is good to be quiet, and she will learn. This teaches readers that if they don’t ask as many questions, they can still learn a lot of useful things.
Leafpaw is a worried, busy, and eager to learn new things who is a medicine cat in-training. She can do a lot of useful things. If you read Dawn, you are most likely going to walk away from it thinking very differently about a lot of things. People who read this book also know that it they are being so awful to the wildlife they are destroying just to make a new road. Doesn't the world have enough roads? Leafpaw faces all of these dangers in the book, Dawn.

The Dredful Humans
Author's Note: I decided to write my piece in the perspective of a gift I received for Christmas. This is because it was my favorite present and I thought it would be challenging/fun to write in a different perspective.
One day, I hope to escape all of this madness. On a certain day that didn't happen long ago, Christmas Eve- or at least I think it was Christmas Eve. I tend to lose track of the slowly passing days that seen to drag on forever. Christmas Eve is the only chance many electronics get to be opened, so I was hoping that today was the day I would escape. Anyways, I could here other boxes being piled on top of me. I had tried to escape my box, but it is as hard to escape that box as if I were in jail! It actually really felt as if I were in jail because my case was inside a box and when I tried to push on my box, it got me nowhere except sliding around and bumping into things.
After I thought there were no escape, I was shook so vigorously that I thought my screen might crack- especially since I have no protective coating on me yet. (It didn't arrive in the mail with all of my other gadgets.) I started panicking. If one of my kind cracks our screen, we will die. (Or at least those were the rumors going around the electronic section while I was still in the store waiting very impatiently for someone to buy me.) Then, I could hear the crackling of paper. Someone was opening my box! Suddenly, a human head stared at me and gasped.
I really don’t care for humans. With all of them bustling around the store without a care, phones and game systems yakking to each other. They disgust me. The humans make so much noise that they could most likely break a world record for loudness. It sounded as if the whole world would explode because of the loud booming noise that hurt me all the way to my wiring. Most of the humans don't even care how they treat me or others of my kind. I know we are all cool with our apps and stuff, but that is no way to treat something as valuable as us trying to decide which one of us to buy and play on. That's the other thing. All of the humans that I have ever heard about in my short life either work or play on us, and take the credit for our genius computing brains. (I am NOT a computer. Don't even let me get into how annoying THEY can be.)
As I had left off before, a human started poking their sticky fingers all over my screen. I think that then, since I was sadly the last present out of the package, it was night. A charging plug was jabbed into my side and I was left there, charging on a clock, unable to move.
P.S. If you have been trying to figure out what I am, here are a few clues. (You should have a general idea of what I am that were already stated.) 1) I am an electronic. 2) I am not a computer. 3) My kind is similar to Androids and Tablets. 4)I am an apple product. 5) I'm not a iPad or an iPhone. I honestly think that should be enough to know exactly what I am.
