Authors Write Books for Reasons

Author's Note: I have been reading a series called the warrior's series. I find the books very exciting and they provide clear images in my mind. The Dangerous Path is the book that inspired me to write this essay.

An author wrote their book for a reason; why do you think the author wrote the book you are currently reading or have read? Maybe they wrote the book to teach you a lesson, maybe they wrote it to show you how to make something, or maybe they wrote it to show the reader what some people are facing in their lives. Some books want the reader to connect what is happening in the book to what happened to you in real life. The author of the book “A Dangerous Path” wrote it for three main reasons.

One of the reasons why Erin Hunter wrote the book "A Dangerous Path" was to show readers that they need to believe in themselves. In the book, Fireheart had to believe that his plans to save Thunderclan would work. Otherwise, if he didn’t believe it would work, other cats would find out that Fireheart didn’t think his own plan would succeed, making them panic. This could influence readers to believe in themselves, whether it is that they can run a mile in a certain amount of time or that they can get an A on a math test. Also, Bluestar- Thunderclan’s leader- had to believe in Fireheart that he would be a great deputy. A few of the cats thought it was strange that a former kittypet- a cat that is a pet of humans- would become clan deputy. Bluestar had chosen Fireheart to become Thunderclan’s deputy, so she had to know that she made a good decision. It is always a good thing to believe that you can accomplish something.

Another reason why the author wrote the book- other than wanting the reader to believe in themselves- is because she wants the reader to know that they need to be responsible of their own actions. Fireheart has responsibilities because he is Thunderclan’s deputy. Bluestar hadn’t been thinking clearly and was spending more and more time in her den, so Fireheart actually had more duties since Bluestar didn’t take care of them. If the reader had responsibilities that weren’t done, then this book could influence them to get it done before they did anything else.

The final reason why other than wanting the reader to know that they need to be responsible, Erin Hunter wrote the book because she wants the reader to really think about the book. Depending how the reader thinks, they might think “A Dangerous Path” is boring, or they might think that it is the most exciting book ever. Also, thinking about what you read makes you a better reader. She wants to encourage the reader to become an even better reader.

Why did the author write the book? She wrote “A Dangerous Path” for three main reasons. Erin Hunter wrote the book because she wants to influence the reader to believe in themselves,to be responsible, and to make them a better reader. The reader will also find the book enjoyable. If someone would like to read a story that is enjoyable and has a lot of action in it, you should recommend “A Dangerous Path”.

  1. good examples from the book. Nice wrap up on your conclusion. Next time try to use some synonyms for a couple of words.
